Social Networks as Dominated by Men or by Women?

According to the study conducted by Forrester Research, social technologies have already reached broad and wide range of users. Meaning, on the last three years that it has been introduced to internet citizens or ‘netizens’, it showed a progress. Based on the gathered data, the demography goes behind the inclination that youngsters who take the advantage of social media networking showed a less percentage. Based from the study, it posters that internet citizens under the age bracket of 18 to 34 which made up the 10% of the so-called ‘socially inactive’. On the other hand, in contrast to the later, internet users under the age bracket of over 35 up to 55, yet present an active increase in the social networking. They illustrate a 60% growth for being ‘socially active’ over the year 2012. This clearly illustrates that 80 percent of American online citizens make use of socialwebsites or social media every month.

On the study governed by Liberty Mutual about socialmedia, it apparently exemplify that men are normally has the highest percentage on the way to use social networks for promotions of business. Unlike the graphic result that showed a less percentage of women who used social media for the same purpose. All in all, men are more active when it comes to social networks than women. The aforesaid survey thaw was conducted was a portion of their purported ‘Responsibility Project’. Going deeper to the data gathered, the survey tagged as ‘comprehensive national survey of online behavior’ illustrates an opposite yet startling end result to other surveys like the one which Royal Pingdom conducted.

Other detail of the survey proved that 57 percent of men have over one account in the social network. On the contrary, women, as showed in the survey only exemplified less than 50 percent which tells that they have conquered social network sites with only one account. In the case of men using Facebook, it demonstrated that they are commonly online to the said social network sites for no less than a few periods weekly. Twitter users were composed of 53 percent of men compared to the least number of women which only showed 38 percent. The 35 percent of men use MySpace than women who only showed 26 percent. A 4 percent higher compared to men users. In the social networking site named Linkedln, 25 percent of men are logged on while 16 percent are composed of women. In the households, dads take the greater possibility of being online through MySpace or Twitter account weigh against moms. A concrete proof revealed 43 percent (men) against the 29 percent (women) while a very amazing 50 percent (men) compared to only 32 percent (women).

This is contradicting with what Royal Pingdom carried out. In fairness with the survey, Royal Pingdom forecasts that among the 19 social networking sites available on the net, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace to name a few, points up that female (covering 84 percent) dominates male when it comes to usage. According to the result, female was composed of 53 percent over 47 percent of male. Facebook and Twitter carved up similar proportion of male and female users which exemplified 59 percent and 57 percent respectively. Bebo, however, is a female ruled social networking site showing 66 percent of female users. The social news site like Digg, Reddit and Slashdot are exclusions to the survey where it showed 82 percent of male users.
